The Neck Tour

The Neck is a place of great beauty with spectacular coastal scenery and plenty of wildlife. It is also a place of significance to local Māori as a place they occupied for over 700 years with the remains of those early campsites still apparent today. More recently in the late 1800's and early 1900's The Neck was a half cast settlement on the Island. Te Manu Adventures offer a tour that takes you to "The Neck" to feel, hear, and see the uniqueness of this special area. The key features of this tour are covered below, 

Key Features

  • Operates daily, (start date to be advised),
  • Is a guided tour with people who know the history of Rakiura and this area, 
  • 30 minute boat cruise across Paterson Inlet to "The Neck" passing some interesting land marks on the way,
  • 4 Km walk around "The Neck" the original Half Cast settlement on Rakiura with fantastic costal scenery
  • Wildlife, a chance to see a variety of wildlife connected to Rakiura
  • History, Learn a little more of the Māori and European history of Rakiura
  • Restoration, hear about the substantial restoration project that has started on The Neck.
